There once was this girl who was nothing special. If there were a crowd of 100 people and she were standing in it you wouldn't even know she was there. Every day was spent just trying to get by. One day that all changed.

As she was walking with a friend to her inevitable doom that was her next class, her big mouth got the big of her. You see, she was never very good at keeping secrets but this was one secret she had held onto for almost three years. She jokingly confessed that she liked her friend as more than a friend. The shockingly receptive boy realized that the girl wasn't joking.

That's where the metamorphosis began. The girl at this point was like a caterpillar. The boy was the nurturer, showing her how great life could be. He was a nearly perfect tour guide in this hectic world. Similar enough to make connections but different enough to learn a lot from each other, they stayed together for quite a while. Unfortunately, the boy eventually let the girl loose so she could explore the world on her own.

After such a relationship the girl had no other choice but to throw herself into a cocoon. Here she tried to shut out the pains of the world. Many people tried breaking down the tough shell but somehow she persevered. While still in her cocoon she was introduced to a new environment. Along with the new environment came new people.

One boy in particular caught the girl's attention. Because of the pain that had come along with the aforementioned three year waiting period, the girl barely waited three days to see if there was something between them. The relationship wasn't exactly what she wanted but it was one she would never forget.

It was almost as if the second boy picked up where the first left off, despite the different classification of the relationship. The second boy showed the girl things she'd never seen and guided her to do things she had never done. She grew so much in such a short time thanks to her new friend. The problem was, just like the first nurturer, he wasn't going to be around forever.

They went their separate ways, so to speak. At first the girl was depressed. She dwelt on the fact that the relationship she had formed would never be the same. The longer she thought about it the more she came to realize that there was nothing she could do to change what had happened. Because of this fact, she knew she couldn't dwell on the past any longer.

Today the girl has made the final transition. She is now a butterfly. She's more colorful now and stands out in a crowd of 100. She realizes that she should no longer depend so much on others. It's up to her to make the best of her life. She'll put forth the effort to be your friend but if you don't reciprocate she really hasn't lost anything. Now, days aren't spent simply trying to het by. Every day is an effort toward improvement. With the improvements this butterfly will make her life perfect according to her standards.

Normally stories conclude with "The End". This story is a little different though...The Beginning
